Let’s take a quick look at the two incredible ones on offer:

The South African National Senior Certificate

The South African National Senior Certificate (CAPS), more commonly known as matric, is the most recognised matriculation certificate in South Africa, written by almost a million learners each year*. It’s accepted by all major universities and technikons in South Africa.

Currently, over 10 million South Africans have a matric pass and it is the primary gateway into the local workforce. By studying hard, passing Grade 12 and getting your South African National Senior Certificate with exemption you have the best chance of being accepted into a tertiary institution in South Africa.

Advantages of the SA National Senior Certificate (CAPS)

  • Affordable
  • Applicable to the South African context and workforce
  • Offers 7 National Languages
  • The most recognised form of high school qualification in South Africa

Cambridge International curriculum

Renowned for the development of higher order thinking skills, the Cambridge International curriculum stretches, challenges and inspires learners, particularly in the fields of mathematics, science and technology. The curriculum is more focused and streamlined, building through IGCSE into AS and A-Levels, where you will typically graduate in three specialised subjects at the age of 19.

Recognised by over 2000 tertiary institutions worldwide, you will be eligible to apply to all UK universities, over 800 universities in the US, and many other learner destinations, including Canada, Australia, Singapore, South Africa, Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

So which curriculum is right for me?

Choosing which curriculum is right for you comes down to a whole host of personal preferences. The first thing to consider is what are your academic strengths and weaknesses in line with what you think you might like to do one day. Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of working overseas or getting a degree from MIT, then the Cambridge Curriculum is a no-brainer. Similarly, if you love local languages and can’t ever see yourself leaving your homeland, then CAPS is the way to go. It all comes down to knowing who you are. Luckily we’ve got an entire team of Support Coaches and education specialists to help you figure that out.
