Working with the best to bring you another First: the dopest Youth Day event

This year we are celebrating our first ever Youth Day and it will be the best this country has ever seen!

Now, because we're always thinking about you — and we know that as a nation, to honour this day, we don our school uniform to pay homage to the youth of 1976 — we thought that just because you go to the school of the future doesn’t mean years from now when you’re out of school, you won’t be able to partake in this tradition. No, you will, except, you’ll do it better because we are all about breaking the rules. We don’t just do school differently, we do everything differently. We don’t do traditional uniforms, we do drip with Grade Africa!

You read that right! We’ve partnered with Grade Africa to present you with a Youth Day event like no other. We are bringing you an incredible afternoon of family fun with top local acts including YoungstaCPT, Dee Koala, Uncle Vinny, and Kyeezi on the ones and twos, a panel discussion on The Importance of Education with your favourite celebs, a barbershop, a beauty bar, and a first-of-its-kind UCT Online High School x Grade Africa collection of hoodies, beanies, totes and long-sleeve tees.

Grade Africa is a local fashion brand by Zaid Osman who co-founded the largest footwear festival in Africa, Sneaker Exchange. Grade Africa has only been around since 2018, but is leading the streetwear charge and has worked with other greats like Space Jam, Cotton Fest, Grasshopper, FUBU, and has been featured in Bubblegum Magazine, Highsnobiety, GQ to name a few.

We’ll be at the V&A Waterfront’s Battery Park between 12 4 pm on Thursday, 16 June. Remember, it’s hot performances, an important chat, a barbershop, a beauty bar and a never-been-done-before merch drop.

Will you be there? RSVP here!

We can’t wait to see you and if you aren’t in Cape Town, don’t worry, we’ll be in a city near you soon.

Please note: this is an event open to the public and parental/guardian supervision is advised.
