Who are we?

We’re a team of mothers, fathers, dreamers, innovators, and believers. Just like you, we want the best for our children.

We don’t just believe in a brighter future; we believe in doing everything we can to make it happen.

We partner for impact

We believe in the power of collaboration as we seek to offer high quality education for all. We’ve teamed up with some incredible partners who support us in turning physical limitations into digital opportunities.
The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation is dedicated to transforming the lives of children living in urban poverty through improved education, health and family economic stability. Thanks to the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, our cutting edge online curriculum is freely available to any learner, teacher or parent in South Africa. UCT Online High School Free Curriculum is about accelerating access to world-class high school education, so that we can unleash South Africa's potential.

In traditional schools, teachers simply don’t have the time or resources to slow down or speed up based on how a single learner is progressing - everyone progresses at the same pace because that’s what the schedule says!

At UCT Online High School, our expert teachers and support coaches help learners to decide what their day looks like. No learner should ever be bored (because spending hours sitting in a class that you’ve already mastered is as pointless as a broken pencil) and no learner should ever get left behind! Need extra tutoring in Maths? No problem! Feel like working all day just on your English project? Go for it! We encourage a personalised pace, balanced by a structured learning schedule which is tailor-made for you, to help you target specific test and exam blocks.

The Western Cape Education Department has partnered with us in establishing our pilot microschool in Mitchell’s plain as they seek innovative blending learning solutions that can impact the quality, efficiency and cost of education in public schools.

Sanlam is committed to investing in young people so they can live with confidence. In collaboration with Sanlam we have launched the UCT Online High School Scholarship Programme, which has offered 100 young people scholarships that cover 100% of their tuition fees for the CAPS curriculum for the duration of their studies at UCT Online High School.

In partnership with Deloitte, The WorldClass Education Challenge was launched by the World Economic Forum in an attempt to recognise and support scalable models of education delivery. In 2021, UCT Online High School was selected as a Top Global Innovator, winning a sizeable grant and access to a pool of international Deloitte consultants who will support us as we seek to scale.

Much like building a strong house, a good education requires a solid foundation. If a learner misses too many building blocks, their whole knowledge structure can become unstable.

At UCT Online High School, learners can’t progress to the next module without mastering the one that came before it. This is called mastery-based progression, and it ensures that learners do not progress with gaps in their learning (which is imperative for success in subjects like Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths). Where gaps exist, our teachers use data to determine precisely when to jump in and assist, so that no learner gets left behind.

The iBhodi trust is committed to solving the education crisis in South Africa by creating, identifying and funding scalable educational blueprints that are technology enabled and have the potential to positively impact millions of lives and change the future of South Africa for the better. iBhodi’s has partnered with us in launching our pilot micro school in Mitchell’s Plain.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is a national human rights institution, and is mandated to promote, protect, and monitor and assess human rights in South Africa. In collaboration with the Commission, we have launched the SAHRC UCT Online High School Rural Girl-Child Initiative, which aims to accelerate access to Online Learning with a focus on girl children in rural areas.
